Say hello to Dr. Gavin Banning, a pediatric dentist whose love for working with kids is matched only by his commitment to making every visit a smiling, stress-free adventure.
A Calling That Started Early
Some folks take a lifetime to find their path. Dr. Banning found his back in the fifth grade. Born and raised in San Diego, California, he knew from a young age that he wanted a career caring for children—a spark that eventually grew into a passion for pediatric dentistry.
That early determination carried him to Point Loma Nazarene University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in biology. He didn’t just hit the books, either—he spent two years leading a molecular biology research team, gaining a strong foundation in both scientific discovery and hands-on leadership.
Trained Right Here in Nevada
Dr. Banning went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While in dental school, he volunteered his time at the undergraduate pediatric dental clinic—because for him, caring for kids was never just a job requirement. It was the whole reason he was there.
He then completed his pediatric dental residency at UNLV, where he sharpened his skills in comprehensive, child-centered care. His training focused on exactly what matters most to our little cowpokes and their families: creating positive, comfortable experiences and helping kids walk away with the confidence they need for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Care That Puts Kids First
Dr. Banning believes that those first few trips to the dentist can shape how a child feels about oral health for years to come. That’s why he’s dedicated to fostering a welcoming, supportive environment where children and parents alike feel right at home. His goal is simple: make every visit as easy, comfortable, and downright enjoyable as possible.
When He’s Not Wrangling Smiles
Dr. Banning knows how to enjoy life outside the office, too. He treasures time spent with his wife, Bree—whether they’re cozied up at home watching a favorite show or roasting marshmallows around a campfire. The two met on the very first day of college and have been sharing adventures ever since, from learning to surf together to traveling and hunting down new restaurants to try.
When he’s chasing a little excitement, you might find him skiing, surfing, camping, weightlifting, or curled up with a good book. And here’s a fun one for the kids: Dr. Banning is a lifelong video game enthusiast who has played just about everything under the sun. So don’t be surprised if your little gamer strikes up a conversation about their favorite games—he’d love nothing more than to chat about them!
